While Traveler now supports a large range of mobile OS’s (Windows Mobile, Symbian S60, Iphone), and is not needed for Blackberry’s, it is missing support for the increasingly popular Google Android.
I do not know how difficult it would be for Lotus to write a Traveler App for this OS (would the API’s support it?) but it does restrict Lotus Notes users options, for buying a mobile phone, which is never a good thing.
If the Android market share continues to grow then it could prove costly, for Lotus, to repeat the lack of support they had for the Iphone. This probably cost them customers as execs demanded Iphones and a mail system that was compatible with them.
Edit: There are apps for the Android which provide Activesync support. Will they allow Android devices to sync with a Traveler server like the Iphone does?

There are ActiveSync clients for Android. Most likely you can use them with the Traveler server
Re: Re: Gap in Lotus Traveler’s OS Support
Hi Stephan,
At Warren's UKLUG Traveler session he did mention that the version of Activesync, that the Iphone, used was an old one which would probably mean that Traveler's support would not be compatible with other Activesync clients. Re: Re: Re: Gap in Lotus Traveler’s OS Support

Too bad, I'm holding a HTC Hero in my hands right now and want to match it with our newly upgraded 8.5.1 server...

I think it would be worth trying. I do not have an Android phone, to test it on, but Jess Stratton has used website rules to get her Palm Pre connected to a Traveler server. See link below:
